Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Aspen Snowmass Nordic Council

Aspen Snowmass Nordic Trail System

The largest free groomed trail system in the US

Our Nordic Trail System began in 1984 with a few volunteers setting tracks with a snowmobile on the Aspen Golf Course. Thanks to years of vision, effort, and collaboration, today, our system offers 60 miles of FREE cross country skiing for the enjoyment by our residents and visitors. Come explore the trails. Pack a lunch and ski from town to town. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Council wishes you happy skiing!

And More

Support the Trails Funds to groom, maintain, and build the winter Nordic Trail System come from taxpayer dollars. In 2007, the citizens of Pitkin County generously approved a referendum to fund the Nordic Trail System through Pitkin County's Open Space and Trails program. Previously, the trials had been funded through an annually reviewed Inter-Governmental Agreement between Pitkin County, the City of Aspen, and the Town of Snowmass Village.

Today, our Nordic Trail System is publicly owned and FREE for everyone to use. There is no other comparable free trail system in North America. Enjoy!

As a non-profit advisory and oversight organization for our Nordic trails, the Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Council solicits donations to support special Nordic trail projects and Nordic events that are NOT covered by annual public funding.

If you wish to contribute to the cause, you can donate here. Thank You!
