The VRD's Spring Short Track Bike Series gets riders ready for the upcoming bike series. No points or prizes... just a fun way to get in shape after a long winter. Races will take place on a short, dirt loop and racers have 20 minutes to ride as many laps as possible in that time. Kids races will be five and 10 minutes in length.

The Boneyard Boogie kicks off the 2026 Vail Trail Running Series with a 14K scamper through pinyon groves and juniper shrubs on some of Eagle's most scenic single track trails, with an elevation gain of 1,279 feet, reaching a maximum elevation of 7,718 feet. Both races will start and end at the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink, with the 14K starting at 9 a.m. and the 6K starting at 9:15 a.m.

Coinciding with the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice trail run is arguably the most enjoyable race in the Vail Trail Running Series. Beginning and ending on the lawn in front of the Beaver Creek Chophouse, adjacent to the Centennial lift in the heart of Beaver Creek, Colorado.

For the eleventh year, the Town of Frisco is hosting a series of four kids’ trail running races over the summer. The entire family is welcome to come out for a night of family fun with the Town of Frisco.

For the eleventh year, the Town of Frisco is hosting a series of four kids’ trail running races over the summer. The entire family is welcome to come out for a night of family fun with the Town of Frisco.

Join us as we celebrate 50 years of the Vail HillClimb! Named Best Trail Race by Colorado Runner Magazine in 2006 & 2011! The Vail HillClimb tests local, regional and national runners with a historic seven mile climb from Vail Village to Mid-Vail. Race participants will race up Vail History as they follow the same course that was once a gravel double-track (now gravel service road) when the HillClimb began in 1976! Between the history, views and Gondola ride down, this course has become a favorite among trail running enthusiasts!

The Grin & Bear It is Crested Butte’s oldest trail challenge. Historically presented as a sprint to Green Lake and back, this classic event has evolved to offer a 25k Loop competition while still maintaining the traditional 15k race.

Coming back for year two, we’re offering a 25k mountain bike race. The bike will be technical and difficult - a great training opportunity for the Summer Grand Traverse.

The 10@10 returns to its original route on Grand Traverse. The race starts 10,000 feet above sea level, on the beautiful Vail Mountain. Racers will be challenged as they traverse over Vail Mountain and across the legendary back bowls of Vail. The average grade of the 10K is 7 percent with an elevation gain of nearly 1,200 feet, while the shorter 5K is a tad less challenging and allows runners the chance to experience racing at an impressive altitude. Both courses provide incredible views of the Vail Valley, the Gore Range and the beauty of wildflowers in full bloom.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at the base of Gondola One in Vail Village, testing runners of all abilities on both singletrack and doubletrack terrain over 4.6 miles of uphill running with an average grade of 14 percent. The race ends at Mid-Vail at the top of Gondola One. 

Competitors will ascend Berry Picker Trail and take a sharp left towards the top onto Lower Fireweed and traverse to the east toward Mid-Vail. Competitors will exit Lower Fireweed on to the Mountain Access Road and finish at Mid-Vail.

Run the Rockies trail 10k and half marathon will lead runners through the Frisco Peninsula trails with breathtaking views of Dillon Reservoir and the Ten Mile Range. This is a great course for a first time half-marathoner or runner looking for a fun course that offers single track and dirt road trails.

2021 was the first year the Vail Trail Half marathon found it's home in Arrowhead. We wanted even more aspen trees and beautiful views, so the Arrowhead Half Marathon got a glow-up in 2025! The half marathon course continues to challenge racers with 3,000' of elevation gain over 13 miles. This half marathon will traverse across the beautiful Arrowhead, Bachelor Gulch, & Beaver Creek Ski Resorts, along their incredible network of trails. Racers will run through aspen groves as they ascend on Arrowhead's newest trail, Quiver, to the summit of Bachelor Gulch Mountain (9,560') before descending the Arrowhead Mountain Trail. Finishing off the 13 miles with a traverse across Arrowhead Mountain on the Apache, Ute & Dakota trails.

The Grand Traverse Mountain Run is a point-to-point ultramarathon from Crested Butte to Aspen, Colorado. The course follows the route of the Grand Traverse Backcountry Ski race. Runners travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountains with over 6,000′ of elevation gain.

The Grand Traverse is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.

Chose between 1 or 2 miles* to compete amongst your friends and celebrate with awards and ice cream after you finish! *4-year-olds can only race in the 1 mile category

This series includes three races across the Vail Valley. The races will start at 4:15 p.m. and participants can choose between one-mile and two-mile options. Parents may run with their child.

The Grand Traverse Mountain Bike is no ordinary mountain bike race. It is a point-to-point from Aspen to Crested Butte, Colorado. In total, bikers travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountains with over 6,800′ of elevation gain. The course starts with a 3000′ ascent up Aspen Mountain before continuing deep into the Elk Mountains. This mountain bike race is not for the faint of heart.

The Grand Traverse is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.

The seventh and final race in the Vail Recreation District's Vail Trail Running Series, the MeadowGold 11K & 5K is presented by Town of Minturn. This exciting and remote route will take place on Meadow Mountain in Minturn, Colorado. Traverse across this beautiful and historic mountain meadow and soak in the changing of the season!

We are thankful to be hosted by Discover Vail and Vail Ski Resort for our start and the Town of Minturn for our finish for the Cougar Ridge Classic 26K Trail Running Race.
