The Frisco Nordic Center is gearing up for the 2025/2026 winter season and to celebrate the upcoming season, the Nordic Center will host a season kickoff party on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Frisco Nordic Center Lodge, located at 616 Recreation Way. Frisco Nordic Center staff invite Nordic ski enthusiasts and those who are interested in the sport to enjoy free appetizers, beverages, and mingling with Nordic staff and fellow skiers. This event offers an opportunity to learn about the Nordic Center’s upcoming events, clinics, and programs, and to purchase a season pass for 2025/2026 season at early-bird prices.

The Frisco Nordic Center anticipated opening day is Thursday, November 27, 2025, conditions permitting.

Tune up your skis and get ready for the 2025-26 season! Weather permitting, a selection of our award-winning cross-country and multi-use trails will open on November 26, 2025! Trails will be available for classic or skate skiing, snowshoeing, and fat tire biking.

Grooming will begin as soon as there is enough snow.

Jumpstart your nordic ski season with CB Nordic instructors and visiting coaches. We want to get you on your feet, test your balance, and help you glide with confidence. This year’s offerings include adult beginner sessions, adult technique clinics, U20 training camp, and para camp clinics. Registration opens September 23rd.

Raise your glogg (old-fashioned Swedish spiced wine) for our annual Tommelfest celebration! Kick off the beginning of the winter season at our Viking-themed Nordic festival with free skate & classic cross country ski lessons from DTR Ski Instructors & CU Ski Team Coaches, keg toss, Swedish meatballs, and more–all in the spirit of the first cross-country skiers from Norway and Sweden where the sport originated.

In addition to the outdoor fun, warm up with special Tommelfest winter retail savings pop-up for apparel and gear!

Open to both lodging and non-lodging guests. In the event that snow conditions do not support Nordic Ski Clinics, alternate outdoor activities (Nordic dryland drills) will be substituted.

Life is more fun with a dog, and hitting the ski trails is no different! Head out on the award-winning Nordic ski trails and learn to work as a team with your four-legged friend! Easy and fun to learn, skijoring is a great way for you and your pup to get outside and enjoy the trails all winter.

You must bring your own pet. We recommend you only bring dogs in good shape and at least 35 pounds for their own safety.

If you plan to stay with us, please understand that our individual cabins will be the only pet-friendly lodging available.

$60 per person. Skijoring harness, ski rentals, and trail day pass are not included, however they are available to rent and purchase at Zach’s Mercantile.

The Alley Loop is not your typical Nordic Marathon. It is both a premier American Birkebeiner Qualifying event and Crested Butte’s most outrageous costume party of the year! The course winds through snowy streets, alleyways, and narrow bridges through the heart of downtown Crested Butte. Once you make it through town, you are rewarded with pristine tracks and exhilarating vistas throughout the Crested Butte Nordic trail network.

If you like normal, you may want to look for another race.  If you are up for anything… this is right up your alley!

Bring your friends and your skis (or snowshoes) to experience the magic of exploring the Frisco Peninsula on candle-lit trails. Along the trails discover bonfires to warm up and enjoy snacks and drinks with friends. This event is organized by Team Summit, and all proceeds benefit Team Summit Nordic Program.

The tradition continues! Join us for the 55th Annual Frisco Gold Rush. Gold Rush is the longest running Nordic event in Colorado and consists of classic and skate ski races open to Nordic enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Gold Rush is where the past and present come together to celebrate our historical mining heritage and embrace our snowy Nordic culture.

Hone your skate skills at Sisu Ski Retreat this winter. Now in its seventh season, this annual women's-only retreat offers multiple skate ski clinics, yoga and mindfulness sessions, private rooms, and delicious home-cooked meals over the course of a long weekend. All equipment is provided and beginners are welcome!

The Frisco Freeze Winter Fat Bike Race is back at the Frisco Nordic Center on Saturday, February 14 with a 3:00pm start.

The Frisco Nordic Center typically doesn’t allow winter fat biking on its groomed trails, but Frisco Freeze is the exception! It’s your exclusive opportunity to ride the pristine course and test your skills on a one-of-a-kind adventure. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or just looking to enjoy the magic of a ride on the groomed Frisco Nordic Center trails, this event promises to be unforgettable. Register and get ready for a spectacular race!

A beautiful circumnavigation of Gothic Mountain. The Gothic Mountain Tour features a 23.5-mile competitive race and a 17.85-mile recreational race around the majestic Gothic Mountain. This race is unique, tough, and beautiful. The perfect place to test your Grand Traverse systems. The Gothic Mountain Tour is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.

Frisco BrewSkis is a beer festival on skis at the Frisco Nordic Center. Costumes, teamwork, and whacky photos are all encouraged! This happy hour ski tour which will feature beer tasting tents along the trail with beer from local breweries and prizes for the best costumes.

An extraordinary Colorado ski route! The Grand Traverse is a point-to-point ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen.  Racers travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountain range, climbing over 6,800 vertical feet. To ensure competitor safety, racers must have a partner, carry mandatory gear, and begin the race at midnight when avalanche hazard is decreased. The Grand Traverse is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.

The Grin & Bear It is Crested Butte’s oldest trail challenge. Historically presented as a sprint to Green Lake and back, this classic event has evolved to offer a 25k Loop competition while still maintaining the traditional 15k race.

Coming back for year two, we’re offering a 25k mountain bike race. The bike will be technical and difficult - a great training opportunity for the Summer Grand Traverse. 

Run the Rockies trail 10k and half marathon will lead runners through the Frisco Peninsula trails with breathtaking views of Dillon Reservoir and the Ten Mile Range. This is a great course for a first time half-marathoner or runner looking for a fun course that offers single track and dirt road trails.

The Grand Traverse Mountain Run is a point-to-point ultramarathon from Crested Butte to Aspen, Colorado. The course follows the route of the Grand Traverse Backcountry Ski race. Runners travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountains with over 6,000′ of elevation gain.

The Grand Traverse is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.

The Grand Traverse Mountain Bike is no ordinary mountain bike race. It is a point-to-point from Aspen to Crested Butte, Colorado. In total, bikers travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountains with over 6,800′ of elevation gain. The course starts with a 3000′ ascent up Aspen Mountain before continuing deep into the Elk Mountains. This mountain bike race is not for the faint of heart.
