The Vail Nordic Town Series Races are put on by the Ski & Snowboard Club Vail. Skiers of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend! 

Day-of, on-site registration | $5 for 1K & 3K races, $10 for 5K and up

Youth Program Fundraiser! Anything goes! Find three people, form a team, and let’s have some fun. We strongly encourage people who don’t typically race to join a team.

The third of seven in the Ute Cup Nordic Series. This beloved Nordic ski race traditionally connects the Snowmass and Aspen communities via scenic and challenging ski traverses. This years events are Freestyle technique.

The Durango Nordic Center offers lessons and clinics for all ages and levels, from never-evers to experienced skiers. Lessons and clinics run throughout the season!

Arguably our most popular race, this night time two-person skate sprint relay takes place under the glow from the X-Games lights at Buttermilk. Race number four in the seven race  Ute Nordic Series, sponsored by The Ute Mountaineer.

Devil’s Thumb Ranch and the Winter Park/Fraser Chamber are happy to present the 11th annual 30km, 15km, and 3k kids classic-only cross country ski race and tour! The event will start and finish at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa. An end of race celebration will be located at Broad Axe Barn with food and beer.

We traversed across Beaver Creek and into Arrowhead for the second installment of the VRD Winter Races! Participants can choose between *skimo/boardmo and uphill with approximately 1,700 feet of vertical gain from the base of the Arrow Bahn Lift to the top. The event will conclude with breakfast and awards at Broken Arrow Restaurant at the base of Arrowhead. 

Race will consist of skimo, boardmo, and uphill. Uphill can be done on skis, splitboard, snowshoes, spikes, or shoes with tred.

Devil’s Thumb Ranch is thrilled to bring back the Governor’s Cup 30K and 15K -Skate-only, cross-country ski race. The event will start and finish at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa. An end-of-race celebration will be held at Broad Axe Barn, which will include food and beer.

30k Skate Ski Race:

15K Skate Ski Race:

The Alley Loop is not your typical Nordic Marathon. It is both a premier American Birkebeiner Qualifying event and Crested Butte’s most outrageous costume party of the year! The course winds through snowy streets, alleyways, and narrow bridges through the heart of downtown Crested Butte. Once you make it through town, you are rewarded with pristine tracks and exhilarating vistas throughout the Crested Butte Nordic trail network.

If you like normal, you may want to look for another race.  If you are up for anything… this is right up your alley!

Bring your friends and your skis (or snowshoes) to experience the magic of exploring the Frisco Peninsula on candle-lit trails. Along the trails discover bonfires to warm up and enjoy snacks and drinks with friends. This event is organized by Team Summit, and all proceeds benefit Team Summit Nordic Program.

The mission of Ski for Light is to teach visually- and mobility-impaired adults the sport of classic cross-country skiing, to give participants who have already mastered the basics the chance to improve their skills and endurance, and to enable participants to just have fun on the snow.

Each year Ski for Light, Inc. conducts a week-long International Week that attracts upwards of 250 participants and guides. The location of the event changes from year to year in an effort to spread the Ski for Light philosophy and idea to as many parts of the country as possible.

Race number five in the Ute Cup Nordic Series. This event takes place at the Spring Gulch Nordic Trail System outside of Carbondale. This is a skate race of 5K or 10k for all ages and 1K and 3K for juniors. Individual Start (5K & 10K), Mass start (1k & 3K) beginning  at the Spring Gulch Trailhead.

One way to beat the darkness of this time of year is to get outside and enjoy it! Experience the alpine glow of the Twilight Peaks and the rise of the full moon as you sip a warm beverage by the bonfire or go for an evening ski or snowshoe. This is an event for the whole family.

Cross country ski from Snow Mountain Ranch to Granby Ranch via the Fraser to Granby Trail

The Southwest’s premier ski competition is back! Sponsored by Salomon, this six-race series brings together skiers from across the region to compete for the title of King and Queen of Nordic Skiing in the Southwest.

The tradition continues! Join us for the 55th Annual Frisco Gold Rush. Gold Rush is the longest running Nordic event in Colorado and consists of classic and skate ski races open to Nordic enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Gold Rush is where the past and present come together to celebrate our historical mining heritage and embrace our snowy Nordic culture.

Join us on Sunday, Feb. 8, as skiers, snowboarders and winter runners tackle 2,200 vertical feet of groomed trails to reach Eagle's Nest at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead. The event will conclude with breakfast and awards at Eagle's Nest, provided by Vail Ski Resort and US Foods.

This event honors the memory of Vail local, Lyndon Ellefson, who was instrumental in starting the U.S. Men's Mountain Running Program, with some of the entry fees supporting the U.S. Mountain Running Team.

Spring Gulch Nordic Trails largest fundraiser of the year, and a true highlight of the season. Ski as many laps as you like, find a few sponsors, join the fun, and help support Spring Gulch!

Distances: 

• 3km junior course
• short course 15km
• long course 30km

Course: Look forward to a challenging technical course! The 30km racers will complete 2 laps of a challenging 15km course that includes approximately 1000 feet of climbing per lap.

A beautiful circumnavigation of Gothic Mountain. The Gothic Mountain Tour features a 23.5-mile competitive race and a 17.85-mile recreational race around the majestic Gothic Mountain. This race is unique, tough, and beautiful. The perfect place to test your Grand Traverse systems. The Gothic Mountain Tour is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.

This family favorite 7K classic event takes place on the iconic Independence Pass Road and is a fund raiser for The Independence Pass Foundation. Race number six in the seven race Ute Cup Nordic Series, sponsored by The Ute Mountaineer.

The Sons of Norway’s District Six Colorado Lodges are hosting a free, noncompetitive children’s cross country ski race, the Barneløpet, for young people ages 0 - 16 years. This event is open to all skill levels, options for distances are 1 km, 2.5 km and 5 km.

The Nordic Center’s toughest endeavor, the Pine Needle Langlauf freestyle event offers big climbs, scenic views, thrilling descents, and excellent snow conditions. There will be live music, prizes for winners, and schwag for all! This is the final race in the 2025-2026 Southwest Nordic Race Series sponsored by Salomon.

Course: Fun, challenging courses that showcase the world class skiing and beauty of Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic! The 50km course will be 2 laps of a 25km loop. The 12.5km and 3km course will be mostly independent of the long course and will offer a great alternative for those who want a slightly less challenging day.

Start Time: 9am Long Course, 10am Short course

Frisco BrewSkis is a beer festival on skis at the Frisco Nordic Center. Costumes, teamwork, and whacky photos are all encouraged! This happy hour ski tour which will feature beer tasting tents along the trail with beer from local breweries and prizes for the best costumes.

Event: Classic, Long Course 50km, Short Course 25km, 12.5km (not series eligible), Junior 3km.

This long-standing Durango tradition brings skiers together to celebrate winter from start to finish!

The final race of the Ute Cup Nordic Series. The technique for this race will be freestyle (skate or classic).

An extraordinary Colorado ski route! The Grand Traverse is a point-to-point ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen.  Racers travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountain range, climbing over 6,800 vertical feet. To ensure competitor safety, racers must have a partner, carry mandatory gear, and begin the race at midnight when avalanche hazard is decreased. The Grand Traverse is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.
