Jumpstart your nordic ski season with CB Nordic instructors and visiting coaches. We want to get you on your feet, test your balance, and help you glide with confidence. This year’s offerings include adult beginner sessions, adult technique clinics, U20 training camp, and para camp clinics.

The Pinnacle Orthopedics Community Races are a fun way to get outside, exercise, meet new people, and challenge yourself. Each week is a different format and location, with races ranging from 5 km to 20 km – and a 1 km and 3 km kids’ race. Receive points for each race and compete towards overall prizes at the end of the series.

Technique: Skate or Classic
Adult Race: 5 km
Kids' Race: 1 km / 3 km

The first race of seven in the Ute Cup Nordic Series sponsored by The Ute Mountaineer. Starting at the top of Clubhouse hill, this 10 K freestyle/skate race is always a challenging season opener. 5, 3 and 1 K distances as well, mass start for all participants.

Course Description: A challenging 7.5 km loop to push your early-season endurance!

Presented by Grand Nordic, join us for the Snow Mountain Ranch Classic, a Nordic ski race offering long, short and junior courses. This event is included as a part of the 2025 Grand County Nordic Race Series

Event: Classic, Long Course 15km, Short Course 7.5km, Junior 3km
Course: Some long hills that will require pacing, fast descents and maybe a moose or two! The event will be based out of the new Camper Hub building, adjacent to the Nordic center.
Registration: Registration is through Grand Nordic. Closes 1/10/25 6pm. Sorry, no race day registration

Race number three in the Ute Cup Nordic Series, this 10, 5, 3 and 1K freestyle event takes place at Spring Gulch, our Pitkin County sister Nordic area.

Join us for a Devil’s Thumb Ranch favorite—Women’s Ski, Sip & Yoga! A day full of female comradery, skiing award winning cross-country trails, healthy eating and restoring your body.

Ski, Sip & Yoga is an opportunity to try Nordic skiing for the first time or hone in your skills with other experienced skiers. Of course, there is plenty of time for relaxation and a glass of wine, as well!

Type: Skate
Distances: Long Course 30k, Short Course 15k, Junior Course 3k
Course Description: A challenging, technical route with each 15k lap featuring around 1,000 feet of climbing. The 30k racers will complete two laps. Last year’s winning times set an impressive benchmark: males at 1:26:40, and females at 1:50:52.

Mixed Adult/Youth Relay: 2.5 km

Arguably our most popular race, this night time (5:15PM junior and 6:15PM senior start times) two-person skate sprint relay takes place under the glow from the X-Games lights at Buttermilk. Race number four in the seven race  Ute Nordic Series, sponsored by The Ute Mountaineer.

Devil’s Thumb Ranch and the Winter Park/Fraser Chamber are happy to present the 9th annual 30km, 15km, and 3k kids classic-only cross country ski race and tour! The event will start and finish at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa. An end of race celebration will be located at Broad Axe Barn with food and beer.

The Alley Loop is not your typical Nordic Marathon… It stands both as a premier American Birkebeiner Qualifying event, in addition to being Crested Butte’s most outrageous costume party of the year!

The western US sends their finest to compete in this two day event featuring a mass classic start on Friday. Parking is limited, please use public transportation.

Day two of the Raoul Wille Race Weekend is a Mass start freestyle/skate race featuring some of the best athletes in the western US. Parking is limited, please use public transportation.

New this year, save the date for this fun day on the trails! Whether you’re new to cross-country skiing or a seasoned regular, we’re coming together to stride out and sightsee on our classic skis! More information coming soon!

Cross country ski from Snow Mountain Ranch to Granby Ranch via Snow Mountain Ranch Trails to the Fraser to Granby Trail to the Granby Ranch Trails. 12 km one way or 24 km both ways.

Enjoy refreshments and fellowship afterwards!

This family favorite 7K classic event takes place on the iconic Independence Pass Road and is a fund raiser for The Independence Pass Foundation. Race number six in the seven race Ute Cup Nordic Series, sponsored by The Ute Mountaineer.

Get your skis waxed, find a buddy, and get ready to have some fun! Join us for for the 2nd annual 12K skiathlon in honor of Bill Chambers—a long time Grand County resident who loved Nordic skiing and our mountain community. The skiathlon will consist of both classic and skate skiing. The event can be completed by one person, or a two-person team relay (all male, all female or co-ed). The first leg of the course is to be completed on classic skis,  and the second leg on skate skis. There will be a transition area in between. The total distance is approximately 12K.

Registration includes the entry fee, as well as a meal following the race at the Broad Axe Barn. Lunch will include a vegetarian chili and Devil’s Thumb Ranch’s Signature Wagyu chili with a beer.

The seventh and final race in The Ute Cup Nordic Series, sponsored by The Ute Mountaineer. Season awards and lunch for all series participants.

The Grand Traverse is a point-to-point ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen.  Racers travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountain range, climbing over 6,800 vertical feet. To ensure competitor safety, racers must have a partner, carry mandatory gear, and begin the race at midnight when avalanche hazard is decreased.

The Grand Traverse is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization.

Test your end-of-season endurance, Crested Butte Style! Four laps, four beers. Register for the 4-person relay or take on the ultimate challenge and go it solo, or register for the 4-person relay.
