Devil's Thumb Ranch: Winter Park Expansion

Devil’s Thumb Ranch owners add Trailhead Inn and Caffe Giocondo dinner service to options for skiers, visitors and residents.

WINTER PARK, Colo., Jan. 21, 2016…Adding to downtown Winter Park’s lodging and dining options, Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa, Vasquez Creek Inn, Volario’s and Caffe Giocondo owners Bob & Suzanne Fanch recently announced the opening of newly renovated Trailhead Inn and expanded dinner service hours for Caffe Giocondo.

Located in the heart of downtown Winter Park near Hideaway Park, the Fanches purchased the former Olympia Motel in fall 2015 and renovated it into a Modern Basecamp, now known as Trailhead Inn. Featuring 40 contemporary and comfortably appointed rooms, an indoor pool and hot tub, this spacious retreat offers one of best lodging values in the area with nightly room rates starting at $119.

A taste of the Alps...Dining options for guests, visitors, locales

Convenient and easy access to dining, shopping, recreation and shuttles to/from Winter Park Ski Resort, just three miles away, adds to both Trailhead Inn’s and sister property Vasquez Creek’s Inn’s appeal. Steps away from Trailhead Inn and located in Vasquez Creek Inn at 78786 US Hwy 40 in Winter Park, recently opened Caffe Giocondo offers a casual Italian street café type atmosphere with handcrafted coffees, pastries and breakfast Stromboli (scrambled egg plates). For lunch and newly expanded dinner service, diners can choose from housemade charcuterie, Pizzettas, Zuppa, sandwiches, insalatas and beer and wine.

Next door to Caffe Giocondo and also located in Vasquez Creek Inn is Volario’s, the popular Northern Italian Mountain restaurant and bar that includes a heated outdoor patio for al fresco dining on Vasquez Creek. Diners are transposed to the Italian Alps where they can dine on housemade cheeses, charcuterie and bruschetta, made from scratch pastas and Gnocchi, wood burning oven pizza, and Primi plates including seared duck breast over polenta, grilled Bronzino and wild mushroom risotto and flatiron steak romanesco, to name a few.
