The Sons of Norway’s District Six Colorado Lodges invite you to participate in the children’s Barneløpet for young people ages 0 - 16. Barneløpet is a noncompetitive ski event for children modeled after similar ski events in Norway. Literally translated, Barneløpet means “children’s race.” Sons of Norway’s Barneløpet is a FREE event open to boys and girls of all skill levels. After the race, skiers and their families are invited to a reception where the Host Lodges will serve a light lunch of Norwegian hot dogs, snacks and beverages.

Get your skis waxed, find a buddy, and get ready to have some fun! Join us for for the 2nd annual 12K skiathlon in honor of Bill Chambers—a long time Grand County resident who loved Nordic skiing and our mountain community. The skiathlon will consist of both classic and skate skiing. The event can be completed by one person, or a two-person team relay (all male, all female or co-ed). The first leg of the course is to be completed on classic skis,  and the second leg on skate skis. There will be a transition area in between. The total distance is approximately 12K.

Registration includes the entry fee, as well as a meal following the race at the Broad Axe Barn. Lunch will include a vegetarian chili and Devil’s Thumb Ranch’s Signature Wagyu chili with a beer.

This fundraiser for the Aspen Valley Ski Club is an annual crowd favorite. Ski and snow shoe your way around the candlelit tracks at the Aspen Nordic Center and enjoy fantastic cuisine from some Aspen's finest establishments. Live music, desserts and libations await you as you arrive at your final stop. Tickets are available through AVSC (970) 205-5100. Ski rentals available at the Aspen Nordic Center - due to high participation at this event, please be prepared to wait in line for rentals and dress warm.

As a fun idea from volunteers and students at Colorado Mountain College, the first Leadville Loppet was hosted in 2003. The race showcased the then-newly-dedicated Mineral Belt Trail's unparalleled mountain vistas; free, all-inclusive access to outdoor play, and community spirit that makes Leadville Leadville.

Today, the Leadville Loppet continues to offer all of those attributes and has found its place among the most-loved winter community events, where Leadville locals and visitors gather to have fun, ski in costumes, share stories, and savor the race's legendary post-race potluck.
